Signe Solberg Norway, b. 1985
Signe Solberg (b. 1985) lives and works in Hobøl, Norway. Solberg holds a MFA in visual arts from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. She works primarily with sculpture, installation and art in public spaces, both permanent commissions and temporary projects.
Using primarily industrial materials, her works relate directly to landscape, architecture and space with narratives that expand and change over time. Central through her practice is the body’s physical capacity and visibility in large scale installations and the visual balance between geometry and gravity. Also exposing her works to external influences and natural forces, as a slow entropic transformation, provides random patina and expressions.
Her works has been exhibited in various galleries and museums throughout Norway and public commissions are among others located at Kirkenes hospital, Norwegian Health Archives, Oslo Central Station, REV Ocean Research Vessel and Torbjørnsbu Art Arena. Recent solo shows include The Vigeland Museum Oslo, Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall and Kristiansand Kunsthall. Solberg is represented in collections such as County of Oslo Art Collection, Bank of Norway, Southern Norway Art Museum and Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall in addition to private art collectors. She has been granted with Anders Jahres Award for Young Artists and Viken Artist of the Year Award and is currently on a ten year working grant from the Norwegian Arts Council.
